Adding a Deposit

To add a fixed-term or indefinite deposit to your portfolio, go to the portfolio overview page, click “Add New”, and select “Transaction / Investment”. Then, in the new window, click on “Add investment manually”.

A new view will open where you can enter the investment details.

  • Select the instrument type: “Deposit”
  • Enter the investment name, e.g., the bank name and deposit term
  • Enter a deposit code to easily identify it in the mobile view
  • Select the deposit currency
  • Finally, click “Add to portfolio”

Once the investment has been added, you should see the following view:

Setting Up Interest Payments

Portfellow allows you to forecast your portfolio’s cash flows. To do this, you need to enter the deposit terms.

  • Click “Yes” under “Does the investment generate cash flow?”;
  • Then, you can choose the cash flow type.
    • In this case, it is “Bullet”, or if the interest is paid only at the end of the deposit term, then “Full Bullet”;
  • Set the annual interest rate of the deposit;
  • Specify the payout frequency and interval;
  • Enter the deposit contract start date;
  • Enter the first payout date;
  • Enter the final payout date;
  • Finally, click “Save”.

Adding a Deposit Entry

Next, you need to record the deposit transaction.

  • On the investment page, click “Add New Transaction”
  • Choose the deposit date
  • Select transaction type: “Deposit Entry”
  • Enter the deposit amount
  • If the deposit was made from an account that is also part of your portfolio, select the account used
  • (Optional) Add a comment
  • Click “Save”

Recording Interest Payments

Just like adding a deposit entry, you need to record received interest payments.

  • On the investment page, click “Add New Transaction”
  • Enter the interest payment date
  • Select transaction type: “Interest”
  • Enter the total interest amount
  • If taxes or fees were deducted, enter those amounts
  • If the payment was received in a portfolio-linked account, select the account
  • (Optional) Add a comment
  • Click “Save”
