Adding a Deposit
To add a fixed-term or indefinite deposit to your portfolio, go to the portfolio overview page, click “Add New”, and select “Transaction / Investment”. Then, in the new window, click on “Add investment manually”.
A new view will open where you can enter the investment details.
- Select the instrument type: “Deposit”
- Enter the investment name, e.g., the bank name and deposit term
- Enter a deposit code to easily identify it in the mobile view
- Select the deposit currency
- Finally, click “Add to portfolio”
Once the investment has been added, you should see the following view:
Setting Up Interest Payments
Portfellow allows you to forecast your portfolio’s cash flows. To do this, you need to enter the deposit terms.
- Click “Yes” under “Does the investment generate cash flow?”;
- Then, you can choose the cash flow type.
- In this case, it is “Bullet”, or if the interest is paid only at the end of the deposit term, then “Full Bullet”;
- Set the annual interest rate of the deposit;
- Specify the payout frequency and interval;
- Enter the deposit contract start date;
- Enter the first payout date;
- Enter the final payout date;
- Finally, click “Save”.
Adding a Deposit Entry
Next, you need to record the deposit transaction.
- On the investment page, click “Add New Transaction”
- Choose the deposit date
- Select transaction type: “Deposit Entry”
- Enter the deposit amount
- If the deposit was made from an account that is also part of your portfolio, select the account used
- (Optional) Add a comment
- Click “Save”
Recording Interest Payments
Just like adding a deposit entry, you need to record received interest payments.
- On the investment page, click “Add New Transaction”
- Enter the interest payment date
- Select transaction type: “Interest”
- Enter the total interest amount
- If taxes or fees were deducted, enter those amounts
- If the payment was received in a portfolio-linked account, select the account
- (Optional) Add a comment
- Click “Save”
Summary
Once you’ve correctly recorded your deposit, the investment page will display:
✅ The transactions you entered
✅ A deposit value graph
✅ Your return calculations (if you’ve received an interest payment)
